| | | T I M E | | | ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Tomorrow is my baby’s 1st birthday. I’m at a loss for words when describing how quickly this time has gone and how much I wish I could slow it down. I have honestly tried my hardest to enjoy every moment of her littleness and it’s still not enough. I selfishly want more. More chubby fingers & toes, more gummy smiles, more big hugs & wet kisses. More of her pure unconditional love for Mama. | | | M I D D L E C H I L D | | | ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Oh this sweet, sweet girl… I love her so very much but she has been testing us lately… I want to say she never went through the “terrible two’s” but being a “three-nager” is her jam right now… ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The tantrums are multiple times a day, sometimes non-stop / all day / one after the other and it’s exhausting… Especially because as much as my husband tries to talk to her, cuddle her, etc she only wants mommy… Mommy for EVERYTHING… ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I fell— I want Mom I need help in the bathroom— I need Mom Mila’s not giving me that— Mom, get it for me I want raspberries— Only Mom can wash them I don’t like dinner— Mom, give me snacks It’s bedtime— Mom has to tuck me in, not Dad I had a bad dream— I’m going to wake up Mom, crawl into her bed and kick her all night until the cows come home… ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Favourite line currently: “That’s not fair!” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The stubbornness is epic.. The statements are fierce.. The emotions are running high.. And I’m just along for the ride… ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I know she’s just being a kid and she’s learning about herself. I know she’s isolated and not getting the stimulation she would be if we weren’t in a pandemic. I know she’s between 2 other siblings that also want/need a lot of attention. So what do I do? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The “10 Minutes of Daily Connection Time” recommended by @biglittlefeelings has been a game changer for us! So much so that Charlie now asks me everyday after school if we’re going to have “just mommy & Charlie time” and that makes my heart so happy. | | | V I S I O N | | | ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Something you may not know about me— I started wearing prescription glasses when I was 11 years old. My teacher had to tell my parents they should take me for an eye exam when she saw me squinting at the overhead projector (sorry millennials— you might need to Google that term) Lol! 😅 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ So along with 2022 resolutions & intentions, make sure you aren’t forgetting about your eyes. As glasses & contacts wearers we forget about the basics of how to keep our vision at its best. Overall health and wellness includes eye health! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ CLEAR[LY] REMINDERS: - See your eye care professional regularly: It’s recommended that children see an optometrist for their first visit between 6-9 months and annually after that. Adults should ideally have eye exams once every 2 years. - Include ‘eye healthy’ foods into your daily meals: It is essential to include foods containing Vit C and antioxidants which help reduce the risk of developing age-related macular degeneration. - Use the 20-20-20 rule: If you haven’t heard about it before the rule consists of taking a 20 minute break from your screen every 20 minutes and focus your eyes on something at least 20 meters away! - Protect your eyes: Making sure to wear sunglasses even when the sun is not shining to protect from UV rays, blue light blocking glasses when in front of a screen and/or protective eyewear when doing any indoor or outdoor work. - Don’t let eye issues linger: If eye irritations occur from injuries, infections, inflammations or allergies don’t assume they will resolve on their own. Issues with your vision can require treatment or mean you have a more serious underlying issue.
